LISTO Family Literacy Program

LISTO is a family literacy program, which provides: a supportive pre-school environment in Spanish for 3, 4, and 5 year-olds; early learning for infants and toddlers in a culturally and developmentally appropriate environment; multi-age homework support and college readiness for school-age siblings;  English as a Second Language (ESL) and INEA-basic literacy classes in Spanish for parents. LISTO promotes bilingual literacy for the entire family under one roof, supporting all family members with their educational needs and goals.

LISTO Family Literacy Program is providing services to 101 Latinx families and reaching 297 participants in Jackson County. LISTO is housed at Phoenix Elementary and Medford Central High School and operates two nights a week at each location from 5:30 pm -8:00 pm.

LISTO partners with; SOCFC-Head Start, SOELS, INEA, Mexican Consulate, La Clinica, ESD-Migrant Department, Phoenix-Talent School District, and Medford School District.

LISTO Family Literacy Program is possible by the generous financial support of: Meyer Memorial Trust Foundation, OCF-Latino Partnership Program, OCF Community Grant, Walker Foundation, Anna May Family Foundation, Collins Foundation, Northwest Health Foundation, Carrico Family Foundation, Gordon Elwood Foundation, Carpenter Foundation, SOELS, United Way, All Care and Individual donations.


LISTO Services:

  • Infants and toddlers build relationships with loving caring adults and school readiness.
  • 3, 4, and 5 year-old Latino children learn Spanish in a cultural specific preschool environment, kinder garner readiness.
  • Children and youth grades K through 8th are provided with homework support, reading and college readiness.
  • Parents participate in ESL/English Classes, GED preparation and INEA-basic adult education classes in Spanish.
  • Parents also have support group time which covers parenting skills, parent engagement and community involvement.
  • Parent Leadership Development and Health & Wellness Trainings.
  • Children and parents enjoy cultural activities with their families throughout the program year, September to May.
